Based on the well-known manga by Seo Koji that made readers rage for several chapters for the past year (and counting), GONZO animates Kimi no Iru Machi this season. The anime adaptation jumps straight to the Tokyo arc, wherein Kirishima Haruto (almost typed Tokishima for a second there), ventures out of his hometown to chase after his ex-girlfriend Eba Yuzuki. There, he meets two new friends, Mishima Asuka and Kazama Kyousuke. Later on, Haruto finds out that the girl he’s searching for is already close by, but with the complicated circumstances surrounding the both of them, distance is not the only issue he needs to overcome to get her back. There’s a few flashback scenes every now and then to depict the characters’ past, but if you want to be immersed in the whole story, it’s better to read the manga.
Let’s proceed with the seiyuu chart! Most of the main characters are featured in the chart except the voice actors behind Akari (Kouno Nana), Takashi (Masuda Tokishi) and Nanami (Takao Yuki), which do not have as much character roles yet from this project.
Hosoya Yoshimasa (Kirishima Haruto) – voiced the main character for the series. Other roles: Asahina Yuusuke (Brothers Conflict), Wataya Arata (Chihayafuru), X-eins (Kakumeiki Valvrave), Hyuuga Junpei (Kuroko no Basuke) and Hidaka Subaru (Robotics;Notes). Also noticed how a lot of his characters wore glasses.
Nakajima Megumi (Eba Yuzuki) – previous character roles include Kasukabe You (Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou Desu yo?), Himekawa Elena (Phi Brain: Kami no Puzzle), Aiba Ruri (Sacred Seven), Sakura Kaede (Kamfper) and Lee Ranka (Macross Frontier).
Sakura Ayane (Mishima Asuka) – great voice actress, also has other character roles for some ongoing series this season too. Some of her character roles are Shinzaki Fuyuna (Genei wo Kakeru Taiyou), Vladi Gasper (High School DxD New), Enomoto Yuiko (Love Lab), Ayase Arisa (Love Live!) and Isshiki Akane (Vividred Operation).
Ono Daisuke (Kazama Kyousuke) – one of the most popular anime voice actors, doing numerous roles for different shows. His latest character roles are Asahina Subaru (Brothers Conflict), Yatogami Kuroh (K), Cain (Kakumeiki Valvrave) and Sinbad (Magi). His most famous anime character would have to be Koizuki Itsuki (Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu).
Endou Aya (Asakura Kiyomi) – personally one of my favorite voice actresses because of her versatility in different character roles. She voiced the characters Kurasaki Fuuko (Accel World), Gilgamesh (Carnival Phantasm), Restall Lisara (Dakara Boku wa, H ga Dekinai), Visconti Etia (Genei wo Kakeru Taiyou) and Tessou Tsuduri (To Aru Kagaku no Railgun).
Fujita Saki (Eba Rin) – also the same voice actress behind Otohime (Namiuchigiwa no Muromi-san), Ymir (Shingeki no Kyojin), Inami Mahiru (Working!!) and Nanami Ao (Yozakura Quartet). In addition, her voice was also used to create the audio files needed for Vocaloid Hatsune Miku.
Although I dropped the show after the pilot episode’s first few minutes, Kimi no Iru machi’s voice cast is not as disappointing. I think the cast fit the roles they’re given to. If you’re looking for a show that will make your heart take a roller coaster of emotions, it might be a good idea to give this show (or manga) a try.
