Seiyuu Chart: Rozen Maiden Zurückspulen

Seiyuu Chart: Rozen Maiden Zurückspulen

Here comes another seiyuu chart for this month, this time featuring characters and their respective voice actors in the ongoing Studio DEEN anime series, Rozen Maiden. The manga-turned-anime masterpiece by Peach-Pit tells a story of seven magical dolls created by a legendary dollmaker, Rozen, and their climatic battle to win the Alice Game. The main character, Sakurada Jun, is caught up in this mysterious game with the fifth doll, Shinku alongside him. The series already had two existing seasons (plus an OVA), animated by a different studio (Nomad) and were aired almost ten years ago. The current series, Zurückspulen (a German word for “rewind”), is based on the second manga series, and is has a completely different story compared to its predecessors.

Let’s now proceed with the seiyuu chart! Please note that the voice actors from the previous Rozen Maiden adaptations are performing their same roles for the ongoing series. Of course, as it has been almost a decade since the first Rozen Maiden anime, it would be interesting to know the previous character roles each of them took up to this day.  Featured in this chart are the two main characters and the seven Rozen Maiden dolls.

Rozen Maiden

Sanada Asami (Middle Schooler Sakurada Jun) – This is the Sakurada Jun who chose “yes” when asked to wind, thus becoming Shinku’s master on his timeline). Sanada was also the voice behind the fairies in Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita, Tsunetsuki Mayoi (Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei), Yamanaka Sawako (K-ON!), Vita (MagicalGirl Lyrical Nanoha), Di Gi Charat and many more.
Ryota Ohsaka (College Sakurada Jun)
– The voice behind main character of Zurückspulen (the Jun who chose “no” when asked to wind or not many years ago). He currently has other character roles from ongoing series this season like Charlie Staz Blood (Blood Lad), Vali Lucifer (High School DxD New) and Tachibana Sugane (Gatchaman Crowds). His notable character roles from last season were Sadao Maou (Hataraku! Maou-sama) and Tokishima Haruto (Kakumeiki Valvrave).
Sawashiro Miyuki (Shinku) – The voice behind Jun’s doll partner all throughout the story. Also the voice behind characters from ongoing shows like Suruga Kanbaru (Monogatari) and Fukawa Touko (Danganronpa). Some of her previous character roles were Inaba Himeko (Kokoro Connect), Nanba Mutta (Uchuu Kyoudai) and Kurapika (Hunter x Hunter).
Tanaka Rie (Suigintou) – A very famous seiyuu, and Suigintou is one of the reasons why she is. Also the same voice actress behind Himegami (Red Data Girl), Maria (Hayate no Gotoku!), Minna-Dietlinde Wilcke (Strike Witches) and Aizawa Chizuru (Shinryaku! Ika Musume). Of course, her most famous role would be Lacus Clyne (Gundam SEED, SEED Destiny).
Kuwatani Natsuko (Suiseiseki) – The DESU-loving doll’s voice actress. Her previous character roles include Kawano Sae (Yurumates), Mikami Ai (Mirai Nikki), Kanbara Satomi (Saki),  Asakura Ryouko (Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu/Shousitsu) and Ayase Yue (Negima).
Morinaga Rika (Souseiseki) – Suiseiseki’s twin doll. Morinaga voiced other young male or boyish female characters like Makoto (Minami-ke), Claudia (Claymore), Zenigata Mawari (Seto no Hanayome), Kannagi Ren (Kaze no Stigma) and Ikeda Kana (Saki).
Nogawa Sakura (Hina Ichigo) – Manandal Tarisa (Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse), Erica Hartmann (Strike Witches), Tachikawa Satoka (Gatekeepers 21), Asakura Nemu (Da Capo) and Edomae Lunar (Seto no Hanayome)
Shimura Yumi (Kanaria) – Shimura usually do supporting roles like Hasegawa Chisame (Negima), Ogino Wakaba (Cuticle Tantei Inaba), Minagawa Asami (Mushi-Uta) and Primaria and Esquela (Needless).
Chiba Chiemi (Kirakishou) – The voice behind the seventh Rozen doll & the main antagonist in the series. Her notable roles were Shinada Benio (Star Driver), Marika (Marie & Gali), Kirisato Nanaka (Nanaka 6/17), Sawada Mio (To-Love Ru) and Harukaze Doremi (Ojamajo Doremi).

Again, nothing from the main voice acting cast was changed, which was awesome. I do think Chiba Chiemi has been doing a great job portraying Kirakishou, which still gives me shivers whenever she said something during the first episode, despite her lines not having anything overly threatening. Also looking forward for more Suiseiseki DESU appearances later on.

That’s all for this week’s seiyuu chart! Stay tuned next week for another chart, featuring another ongoing show this season. Have suggestions? Feel free to leave a message at our comment section!
