MWF Republika 2023 will take center-stage at the Powermac Center Spotlight at Circuit Makati at 4:30PM, featuring Tajiri and Yappy!
But before we go to tomorrow’s big wrestling event, Tajiri and Yappy were on hand last Friday at the meet and greet set up by the Manila Wrestling Federation (MWF), Fight Sport Manila, The Nutcase and S Brewed Cafe. They met their fans who were excited to interact with their favorite wrestlers from Japan.
The legendary buzzsaw
Yoshihiro Tajiri (a.k.a. The Japanese Buzzsaw) shall make his third appearance in Manila Wrestling Federation (MWF) and will fight Jomar Liwanag of the ‘Bahay ng Liwanag’.
It’s been almost ten years since he made his Philippine debut in Joshi Jam where he defeated AKIRA. Tajiri also tagged with Jiro Kuroshio (WWE NXT’s Ikimen Jiro) the same night in a losing effort to AKIRA and the Bodyguard.
Tajiri made his first appearance at MWF in 2019 at MWF 8: Halalan Special facing off against the Fabio Makisig in one of MWF’s top matches of all time.

He would return on the same year at MWF 11: Road to Fate 2019 for a re-match, only to lose this time to his student. Before 2019 ended, he would again drop by MWF to join forces with Fabio and HSSL to defeat the Gus Constabulary and fellow former WWE roster member Ho Ho Lun.

Tajiri’s Philippine record stands at 3-2. The Japanese Buzzsaw will be looking to cement a winning record tomorrow against one of MWF’s brightest lights in Jomar Liwanag.

For those who want to catch up on The Japanese Buzzsaw’s current status, Tajiri is part of the Kyushu Pro Wrestling roster. In various news outlets it has been reported Tajiri’s run with KPW may be his final run in pro wrestling. The former WWE Cruiserweight and WWE Tag Team Champion seems to be on an Asia tour as he will go to Korea on May 20 for Pro Wrestling Society and in Thailand on July 22 for Setup Thailand.
Here comes Ate Yappy!
Yappy, a fixture of the Japanese Promotion Ice Ribbon, will make her MWF debut tomorrow against two of the country’s top wrestlers in Jake De Leon and Crystal. Yappy recently scored a win in her Philippine debut vs. FPW’s Nina and is looking to go 2-0. Will she overcome the odds of a triple threat match and stand victorious? We are sure to find out at the event!
Can YOU spot the Persona 4 reference here? If not, let Teddie lend you some glasses.
What I love about meeting Yappy was I was also meeting a fellow Persona fan. How big of a Persona fan is Yappy? To give you an idea,a couple of her 8×10 photos were inspired by Persona 4. I really marked out when I saw them.
Personally, I was so happy to get to interact with Tajiri and Yappy at the meet and greet. Count me as one of those excited to watch tomorrow’s MWF Republika 2023! For those who have bought tickets, I hope to you guys there. Let’s enjoy some good times and good pro wrestling action.
