Teaser Visual Released! Comments from Aki Shimizu & Natsuhiko Kyogoku Arrived!
The original spin-off manga ‘The Mononoke Journal by Chuzenji-sensei’, written by Aki Shimizu and serving as a prequel to the ‘Hyakki Yako’, which has surpassed 10 million copies in circulation, has been confirmed for an anime adaptation in 2025.
Serialized since 2019, with nine volumes currently available, this story follows the protagonist, a female student named Kanna Kusakabe, who encounters a newly appointed Japanese language teacher, Akihiko Chuzenji, and together they face various supernatural incidents at school.
The animation production will be handled by 100studio, with Chihiro Kumano as the director, Atsushi Oka in charge of series composition and scripts, and character designs by Masahiko Suzuki. Some of the main staff have been revealed.
Along with the announcement of the anime, a teaser visual has also been unveiled. Additionally, to celebrate the anime adaptation, comments from Aki Shimizu and Natsuhiko Kyogoku have arrived.

Mysterious supernatural things keep happening around Kanna. Once again today, Kanna is going to open the doors to the library prep room to seek help from the surly Chuzenji-sensei who is waiting inside.
A high school supernatural mystery featuring the unlikely duo between a teacher and a high school girl is about to begin!
